If you don't have a good finish after you paint, you let the paint dry completely. After the paint drys spray a layer of dullcoat over it and when it drys the finish of the dullcoat will cover up any problems.

i foresee a slight problem ahead you will find a model that needs a color that no body makes
the only way is to blend a color yourself so bottles are ok and get some cardboard or something and practice your air brush that is the only way you can Spray a custom color
hold off on the project for a week or 2 and practice practice practice practice

THe problem is that you only want to use colors availible in spray and bottle. The only color I know in Model Masters spray that is close to Haze Gray is the Flat Gull Gray (fs36440) though it could be a touch darker. Neutral gray (fs36270) would be good for ww2.

GREAT suggestion! That'll give me 3 of them. As I said in my opening post, "I'm still not good enough with an airbrush to get consistantly decent results." I'm learning to use the airbrush, but i'm not about to chance a major project with it.

Hi Guys,

I'm sure that variations of this question have been asked before, but I could find the answer.

Using only Testor's Model Master paints, and then only colors that come in both spray and bottle, what would be the most accurate colors to use for the following:

1. WWII USN Iowa class BBs (no camo).
2. WWII DKM Bismarck BB.
3. Current color for USN USS New Jersey.

If you would, please list your recommendations for each color as:
1. Hull.
2. Superstructure (Horizonal).
3. Superstructure (Vertical).
4. Deck. (wood).
5. Deck (armored).
6. Deck (helo landing area).

I know this request might sound pretty dumb, but I'm still not good enough with an airbrush to get consistantly decent results. So, I need to use a spray can, and then have a matching bottle for touch-ups.

Thanks everyone.
