Good tips, there seasick. Thanks. As far as looking at burned houses, buildings etc. I see enough at work.
I think I'll do alot of practice on my old vessel before I attempt anything else. As I said, I wasn't really satisfied with it anyway.
Thanks again. -60

When I got off from work, I visited another builder I know and he said that if you are doing dammage where the interior of the ship is visible you will need to design the part of the interior you want to be visible and build it before you start the rest of the model. Things that look good are broken pipes, fractured steel, and good burn patterns. Shell hits and bomb hits through teak decks look better if you have broken deck timbers sticking up in the air and falling down a hole. Burn paterns are very critical, find modern pictures of burn dammaged houses and small buildings and notice the burn patterns around windows and along the rook line. Burned surfaces need to look charcole black.

Chasing the ultimate build.

I've never seen a model of a dammaged ship that I thought was good. The bent and disturbed parts of the ship need to be designed and built and then placed into model. The burnt metal is difficult to simulate. You will need to make large portions of the dammage out of some form of metal either cast or machined (with a household hammer and plyers).

That's no lie! I tried one about two years ago and I was basically not satisfied. Pictures of real ones are fine, but some pics of models would be more inspiring and helpful, I'm hoping.

I hope your a good scratch builder, dammaged ships are hard to do.

some good photo's of WWll aircraft carrier models that have been made to look like they are bombed out? Like say, the U.S.S. Franklin or Yorktown, etc.?
Or Japanese vessels? Battleships, destroyers etc. would suffice as well.
I'm thinking of doing a model this way, but would like a good visual before even attempting it.
Thanks, -60
