Welcome one and all to my shipyards! I figured that things might be a bit slow here on this Forum re: works in progress, so I thought I'd get started on a few ship kits that have been calloing my name.
If you'll follow me, here on Slipway One you'll see my progress on my USS Blue Ridge CCS ship. Earlier, she was just built up with a little paint work done:
Now she's looking a bit better in her full coat of paint:
This is the Trumpeter 1/700 scale kit that is supposedly not going to be released in the United States until September, according to FSM I believe. I also have her sister Mount McKinley which I will build sometime later.
Moving right along to Slipway Two, you'll see my Box-scale Revell Hospital ship that I'm building.
This is one of two I'm doing. One will be mine, and built up as the instructions say to do, but the other I will build without the Helicopter deck. The second one is going to be given to a former Navy nurse who served throughout WWII on the USS Mercy. Their first treatment of combat wounds happened at Pearl Harbor when the Mercy steamed into Pearl three hours after the attack had ended. The other one looks like the pic above, so I didn't shoot it. Also, the upper decks above are test-fit onto the lower hull.
Here is the 'Mercy' with some paint on her:
Further down here on Slipway Three you'll see the hull of theRevell 1/400 scale freighter "Hawaiian Pilot". I got her hull and the deck painted so far, before starting on the superstructure:
Yes, the deck is painted. It is a grey that got washed out by the camera flash.
Next to the Pilot on Slipway Four is the Revell 1/500 scale tanker "Glasgow". She is also painted up on her hull and deck:
I'll be painting the rest of the deck details before I go much further on the superstructure of this ship. It looks like it will take a bit more time than the Pilot.
What's that next to the dock over there you ask? Oh, that is a fun little project my shipyard workers are doing in between the serious builds just to keep themselves fresh for the main projects:
That is the Airfix 1/600 scale Mayflower! She's about half done and been a fun little kit to do when other projects get frustrating.
Well, I hope everyone enjoyed their little tour of my Shipyard!
