I would simply power the center shaft and I mounted the kit outboard shafts and rudders With no props. They hide the center shaft and out of scale rudder when its out of the water(Display). Its eaiser to use on power prop and rudder in something that small.

on the subject of the revel PT109 (well, 117 my kit), can you recomend a a speed control setup that would take 3 small motors, or should i wire them all in together like the 2 on the S100?

Hey DORF,
Thanks for the info! I have an old Scale Ship Modeler Mag from 20 yrs ago with an
article about using servos as porpulsion units for small scale ships, the author used
the Revell PT109 and an old tug boat but I figure with all the "micro R/C" stuff I might try
stripping the stuff out of a Walmart $30.00 "toy". My PT109 is about ready for the gear
so I will probably try it first.
Thanks and...
Good Hunting,
G.W.

G.W, i havent really put alot of detail on the model except for crew figures, hollowing out the underwater exhausts and remaking the props on the torpedos. i was going to power it with all 3 shafts but then decided to just use the 2 outer because of drive train problems. i used a pair of those cheap, common motors, are they HP or HB or something. those ones that have flat sides and all the rest is curved. I KNOW its a BIT of a bodge, but they work and if you are careful aligning them they are quiet. i home made the shafts using a 3mm outer with a 2.5mm inner, all stainless steel.the kit props had a fair amount of pitch on them, so i used them because i simply couldnt be bothered looking round for replacements, so i just drilled them out and epoxied them on.....i used 2 rudders powered by a mini servo on its side, for speed control i used an old waterproof speed controller that i stripped down to save weight, and i just used an old 2ch reciever with BEC(all futaba). for batteries i would reccomend that you use 4/6 of the AA cells, and keep a couple for ballast if needed. 6 would only be needed if you wanted to go VERY fast, i use 4 normally, because im a bit of a wimp and i like boats that small to be controllable!!! have you got experience with 'plastic magic'? if so then i recommend this boat because its a bit of a buggaboo at first (or at least my bodge was!!) but it gives me a bit of pleasure when i sail her. does this answer your Q's or help in any way, shape or form?

DROF88,
You say you built your S100 as an RC model. Could you Email me with more info as I am thinking about doing that w/ mine. Did you put a lot extra detail ie the Eduard set and stuff like that and what did you use for propulsion and radio gear?
Thanks
Good Hunting,
G.W.

The S130 is still in egsistence!
She is being rebuilt at the Military Powerboat Museum.
They have a web site with photos of this most interesting boat and its' history.

Yankee Modelworks have taken over the Classic Warships line of kits and parts. You might give them a try to see if they're doing the props.

Classic Warships used to have a set of white metal props, but they've stopped producing kits to the best of my knowledge.
