Modern Iowa class questions.....
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, September 30, 2005 10:07 PM
I got my 1/350 NJ today and looking at the deck pieces I see a problem. They have the "flight deck" molded into the aft deck section, and as the Iowa's wasnt like New Jersey's how would I go about changing it from the New Jersey deck:

To the Iowa deck:

any ideas???

Also, does anyone know what the best PE set to use for this kit is? Looks like the GMM set would be best, anywhere got it at discount prices??

Thanks! -Abram

Other than a couple of diagional lines going forward I don't see the difference. And those can be painted/decaled.

It would be nice if I could just paint/decal it, but I can't. The tarmac/flight/helo(whatever) deck is scribed into the kit's quarter deck piece, you can see that in this pic: http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/ships/bb/bb-62/350/bb-62-03.jpg
This means if I were to just paint it the deck color it would look like a steel deck painted tan... I don't have the tools to scribe the deck planking in, not to mention the deck detail is raised not scribed to begin with.

do you have an awe? If you do it can be used as a scribing tool just sand off the detail on the Helo landing pad and then mask off the area you want to make into deck planking then just scribe away.
