are the Tangos the ones that look like landing craft? if so then they were used to re-fuel and maintain helicopters, there are plans and pics of them in a book i saw once....ill see if i can dig it out for youSmile [:)]

I was wondering 'What is the smallest aircraft carrier ever used?', and my mind quickly thought of those Tango boats you often see pictures of, with the huey carefully perched on its small landing pad.

However, I also read that these boats were medical ships. Not combat ships.

Were they ever used for the refueling, and re-arming of attack helicopters? Hueys, Cobras, or Cayuse?

I could have sworn I heard a story, or saw a picture, of saw a model, of such a boat with an attack helicopter perched on top...
