I'm sure it will be another winner and have a ton of aftermarket to make every variation out there.  Bet they do a Type IX eventually

Wife said I can mount anything on the wall as long as it doesn't have eyes, hoofs, or fur.

That Gato, my friend, qualifies.Smile [:)]

I'll be looking forward to buying this kit and the aftermarket that comes with it.  When I was a kid I built a wood model of a Gato.  It was primitive for sure but I can honestly tell you that I've been waiting for this one for most of my life and I'm glad I took the time to list it on new kit surveys.

I'm skeptical about the pre-orders for something that isn't expected for a year.  I know some folks got burned on the VIIC when they did that.

Patience my fellow fleetboat friends.  Next on the board needs to be a 1/48 scale late model 80' Elco PT boat !!  Captain [4:-)]

Micro Glass makes a 1:48 scale fiber glass Elco 80' PT hull -http://www.microglass.net/products/p1025.html .  The hull includes plans for the PT 109, but there are several sources for plans.

With respect to the PT I'm thinking late war and late model 80' Elco.  Roll off torps, rocket launchers, etc.

The Micro Glass hull is just a bare fiberglass hull - no deck, no struts or rudders, no details; just a bare hull and plans for the 109.  I have the hull at home, and purchased resin aftermarket MK13 Aerial Torpedos, and .50 cal machine guns.  The deck and superstructure will be scratch built from styrene and brass.  You can get late war PT plans from several sources.  I'm still seaching fro some decent 20 and 40 mm guns to go on the little devil boat.

True Details Mk.13 Torpedo and Verlinden U.S. Aircraft Guns WWII are what I purchased to use on the PT.

The ultimate of course (assuming time and money are readily available), would be to build the revel U-boot, Schnellbot, Gato, and PT. With AM stuff and mods it could be a longer project than WWII itself!
