yeah i've heard about that kit. it came out to 1/540 i think. i've looked on ebay but haven't been able to find it

There might be another way to go--Revell, back in the late '50s or early '60s, released a model of the USS Boston as CAG-1. If I'm remembering correctly, I think the Boston and the Canberra were very similar if not identical, and at the very least the Boston would mean a lot less scratchbuilding. The models weren't very detailed, and I'm not sure of the scale, but it might be worth thinking about. Good luck with your project!

My dads high school shop teacher was also on the canberra during that time period, and i too have been looking to build the guided missile version of it, but like you i'm not too sure my girlfriend would like me spending that much money on someone besides her. ( anyway, what she doesn't know won't hurt her )

You're looking at everything from the bridge aft will have to be rebuilt. Two stacks to one .. There are no 1:700 scale missile launchers. I'm not sure that there are the missile illuminators either.

How good a friend is this girlfriend? How good a friend do you want her to be?

Iron Shipwright has just released a 1:350 scale resin Canberra. They had it at the IPMS Nats

Howdy all,
This is very unfamilar waters for me as I am into wings... My girlfriends Dad was aboard this particular vessel between the above years.
When the Caberra was first commissioned back in 43 it was a Baltimre Class, at the time he was on it, it was recommissioned as a Boston Class guided missle armed cruiser.
I know that Trumpeter has the Baltimore Class out but is there any kits/AM stuff that are modified to these specs or do I have to do some heavy duty scrath building.
Any help with this matter would make my gal the happiest women on the earth Wink [;)]

. Now why couldn't he have just worked on the fast movers?? LOL
