Securing Photo-etch

This relates to a question I asked in the Techniques forum. I'm attaching photo etch railings to a 1:700 Scharnhorst. At that small scale, they are to say the least, very difficult to work with. I had asked if tacking down the starting end with Elmer's glue (or testors) , do the required bending, then permenantly secure it with super glue was a good idea. This is my first attempt at P/E railings, and at that size, you usually get only one attempt because of how delicate they are.

The railing around the hull itself is pretty straightforward. What I'm having problems with is the railings on the superstructure, the tight angular places near the bridge and aft deck. If anyone has any tips on doing P\E railings, I'd appreciate it.

'Glueing' ......not making photo etch parts.

And How do you go about creating very fine PE pieces?

A sharpie marker just does not draw fine detail.

I have found that med type 'super glues' work the best.

I use a sewing needle to apply it....I work on a glass surface on my work bench.....its strong and FLAT!....I just start with a drop of the glue on the edge of my table and add more as I go.

You can try this.....use the glue at two or three mounting points 'to start' ....then add the glue at other points as you go....like ship railings or what ever.

The Hobby Shop ( Where.....my Wife knows where to find me and I have my mail sent there...he he...) They have these fine glue tip extensions that fit right on those little super glue bottles...like plastizap....( I think thats the name?) they are awesome and if and 'when' the tip dries....you just cut a small bit off and your ready for more glueing!
