At $15.00 plus shipping for a 1/2400th - would that be about 3" long?  Hmmm.
I have a few - as in 3 - of the Superior 1/12?? ships I bought as a kid (ALNAVCO has been around forever, I can recall their extensive armor offerings including Tamiya 1/21-1/25th, 1/35th kits, but I digress) and they were expensive for their size even in the 60's.

I spotted an Academy 1/500? Eisenhower at a Hobbytown for about $20.00, looked like it had F8 Crusaders on the deck!  More bang for the buck but would require building.

Have already checked PNAS and Norfolk websites for gift shops - no luck.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies all!

Was after a pre-built/pre-paint similar to Dragon Can.Do "Waves" offerings (which are still limited to just cruise lines!), as he is not into the effort of building a model. Or certainly not a decent one "giveable" as an Xmas gift for a desk display.

Thanks!

Diecast Nimitz-class Carrier

GHQ makes a pewter Nimitz-class carrier in 1:2400 scale (1" = 200').   IIRC it comes with decals for hull numbers which will include the Eisenhower.

It is available in many wargame type stores or through ALNAVCO

On the opposite end of the spectrum is the plastic Nimitz by Trumpeter in 1:350 scale.   Couple that with the photoetch set from White Ensign Models which will have the Eisenhower-specific radar supports aft of the island.   You will also need to pick up a set of decal hull numbers for the Ike.

Steve,
You must know that's a pretty broad question.
What size do you (your friend) have in mind?

In general terms, the Eisenhower is a recent edition of the Nimitz class, and there is a relly large kit of the Nimitz.

There is a 1/720 kit  (~14' long) of the Eisenhower herself.

It all depends on what you have in mind.

Good luck,
Rick

Hello all,
Subject line sez it all.  A friend asked if I knew of any such model or pre-built display piece that could replicate the Eisenhower aircraft carrier, so I thought I'd ask those who would know!
TIA!
Steve
