Ed beat me too it - I have not built Loose Cannon's Alamoso-class freighter, but I have built two of their 1/700 class Victory ships - great little kits - and both Hugh and Dave are good people to work with and will help you in any way you can.

According to NAVSOURCE, the Nicollete was based on a C1-type cargo ship hull, and was derived from the Alamosa-class freighter.   The one photo of the Nicollete at NAVSOURCE seems to show the deckhouse aft with T-shaped derricks.   There are other photos of Alamosas under the AK heading at NAVSOURCE which confirm this

Your best bet on an Alamosa would be the offering from Loose Cannon

The website says that it is a coming product, but I would check with Hugh Letterly at Loose Cannon to check on availability

Info on a WW2 ship
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 2:42 PM

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get some info if anyone as any to share.  I am planning to do a diorama depicting one of my great uncles during WW2.  He was in the navy and one of the ships he was on, the only one so foar I have found, was the USS Nicollet (AVS-6).  It was a Aviation supply ship.  My question: Does any one have any ideas how to build this? i.e ship models to use, hulls?  Thanks for any input.
