Alan,
Mosquito Hobbies only has the 20mm and 50 cal. weapons. I can build it, just trying to find out if a kit ia available. Unfortunately when I have called them for something, the item is out of stock and don't have an idea on a re-stocking date.
CGBob,
I'm aware of PT 183's Lt Sprugel and Costigan's bar room dicussion on 02/43 regarding the design of the MKIII rack. Ron 12 was the first to receive the new racks in mid '43, followed by field modifications on the surviving older boats.

The boat I'm doing carries a 37mm and a 20mm just forward of the charthouse, and a 40mm Bofors on the stern mount. The late war Elcos had the MK13 Torpedo racks instead of the long torpedo tubes found on the early boats. I will post pictures as soon as I can take them. I can get the rest from Frank's Mosquito Boats, except the darn heavy guns. I have the four 50's and the 20mm, I'm just trying to save me some extra work if I can.

Not all of the early war boats had the welded tubes. The roll off rack first appeared on PT188, an early war version (PT103 - 196). Some PT boat officers sketched the design on a cocktail napkin, and had the New York Navy Yard install the new rack on PT188. PT188 had just been delivered by Elco in Bayonne to the Navy. The roll off rack became standard issue for the mid war boats, PT314 -361 and late war boats.

They sell a 40" and an 60" model. Okay, okay, the 60" is comming soon, 2006. http://www.midwestproducts.com/ElcoPT-109.htm If you like REALLY large models check out Robert Voorhees' Pt boats http://www.rktman.com/rlh/gallery/robert/robert.html Post pictures of yours we would love to see the progess.

I have been working on a 1/16 scale late War Elco Radio Controlled PT Boat for some time now. The boat is 60" long, the hull is fiberglass, the deck is ply. I have scratch built the Torpedo Racks out of wood, plastic and brass. The torpedoes were fashioned out from wood dowels. I'm trying to find a 40mm Bofors and 37mm kit in 1/16 scale. Otherwise, I may have to scratch build these too. Please let me know if anyone is making these weapons in my scale.
Power will be a 35CC Homelite Warehouse Hobbies Marine motor. I will also scratch build an exhaust system for the boat.
