Displaying 1/700 scale ships

For our IPMS USA 2002 Award Winning Group Build project we had a verical board that allowed the display of more than 30 destroyer sized models on minimal table-top space.   It did require some vertical wall space however.

The board has some 1/8 inch grooves cut in it that run horizontally across the board.

The ship models were mounted on some 1/8 inch blue plexiglas.   The plex slides into the groove.  The plex is held in place by cantilever forces.   They are not cemented - rather they can be moved or rearranged to suit your needs.

What I'm thinking is a system that lets you combine and integrate easily, other additions into the display. I would like to keep the scale affect noticable.

The only thing I can think of is to have one huge display board and have them lined up side by side in an ocean setting.

I guess I'm not very imaginative. Never was.

Hi Mike,

Like Martin, I like to display my 1/700 ships on a "seascape" as well. To me, it really brings them to life. I use Liquidex acrylic gel for the "water" and Milliput putty for the bow wave.
