PTF NASTY

Are you aware of the PTF Nasty class patrol boat used by Special Boat Unit One out of Da Nang?

I have this love affair (the only other one my wife tolerates..) with Vietnam era patrol boats. While doing some research for a conversion of  Italeri's LCM-3 I discovered the PTF Nasty patrol boat. These were bought from Norway in 1964 to supplement the gap needed between the monitors and the swift boats. The best part is that the hull was 80' and based loosely on the WWII Elco design.

I am currently converting the good old Revell 1/72 PT 109 by kit bashing with the old Airfix Vosper MTB. The MTB wheel house only needs a few modifications with the shape.

If this goes as planned I will dig into my Lindberg 1/32 PT 109.

Check out these sites for great tech references, photos and even boat manuals with specification drawings.   www.ptfnasty.com     www.warboats.org    There are also a ton of other links at these sites.  Happy Conversion (and Holidays)!
