Hello! I used to post occasionally on the FSM forums (as "Drawde") but lost my account when the new forums went up,
so have had to re-register.
This Christmas I received the Revell (Matchbox re-issue) 1/72 scale Flower-class Corvette.
As a fan of 1/72 scale naval models, this is a kit I've wanted for some time!
I have a slight problem though, as I'd like to build the kit as HMS Bluebell (the Royal Navy version)!
The original Matchbox kit had options to build 3 different ships - HMS Bluebell (RN), HMS Snowberry (RCN)
and USS Saucy (USN). The Revell re-issue only has the option to build the Snowberry or Saucy. (No idea why, as this
is a Revell AG kit and the UK is a significant part of their market)
However, all the parts (other than decals) needed to build HMS Bluebell
are still included with the kit - the kit sprues are unchanged from the
original Matchbox issue. (They are even moulded in 3 different colours,
classic Matchbox style...) But the Revell instructions, of course,
don't tell you which parts to include and which to leave off in order
to build the Bluebell.
The "parts map" gives a clue, as the Bluebell parts are shaded in grey
(indicating "not used") but in most cases it isn't too obvious where
they go.
Could anyone help me with this? Does anyone here have a set of instructions from the old Matchbox kit?
