All,

Hello.

I just wanted to tell all of you something. A few months ago, a gentleman gave me a damaged built up Varney kit of a PT boat that he found in a Florida antique shop. He also put me in contact with Ernie Webber - the "artist" who transformed the sow's ear a Lindberg BLUE DEVIL Destroyer kit into a simply beautiful USS KIDD.

Mr. Webber was then contracted to build three PTs for me, one of which was the Varney kit, which, according to the data plaque on the bottom of the base was built by a J.E. Fuller in December of 1944.

Well, Mr. Webber just completed work on the Varney kit. He corrected a few of the kit's errors along the way, thereby enhancing the overall look of the model. He put an engineroom hatch from the PT-103 Class on the model as the model now depicts the "as built" PT-103. He used .50s from Aeroclub and a 20mm from them as well.

He dressed up the cockpit area and scratchbuilt depth charges and their racks. He made depression rails from wire and he even used 1:350 scale PE water-tight hatches to depict the deadlights on the decks and he used WEM COLOURCOATS paints ...

I am simply amazed at how well the model turned out. I cannot believe that it is a sixty-two year old Varney kit.
