Along the same lines....

I saw some Glencoe Oregon's on the shelf this weekend. It's been a long time.

I'm really enthused about that cog kit - though I'd be more enthused if the price were lower.  It seems to me that we discussed that "de Gama" kit a while back on the Forum, but for the life of me I can't remember much about it.  It's not in the current Revell Germany catalog.  I have an extremely vague recollection that somebody (maybe it was Big Jake?) posted some pictures of it, and that it looked pretty basic.  But that may be senile memory talking.

Bring 'em on!  I think I'm starting to detect a small, but significant, growth in enthusiasm for plastic sailing ship kits.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Spent some quality time browsing through my well-stocked local shop. (Spare Time Shop, Marlboro, Mass.)   I spotted a couple of new kits:

1.  The Hanseatic Cog, in 1/72 scale.  (by Zvezda?)  I've heard about this kit (on this forum), but this was the first time I've seen it.  Looking at the color photos on the back of the box, it appears that the model can be built as either a waterline or full hull model, which was news to me.

2.  Vasco De Gama's flagship- forget the name. This is a new-looking Revell of Germany kit- one I've never seen before.  It carried a 1999 copyright date on the box, IIRC.   I've often read (and agreed with) Prof Tilley's lament that there aren't any new plastic sailing ship kits on the market-- I know the Cog is an exception to the rule, but is the De Gama kit an exception as well?

Just wondering......
