Hehe, I painted the hair in the same color as the hull.

The launching affect I got by applying a little ca into the groove of the catapult-rail and than adding little bits of cotton.
I also "drilled" out the exhausts of the Tomcat and added little lengths of stretched stirene that I painted in yellow, red and white.

More pictures in about 5 hours or so...

Thanks for the nice comments, and the advice on the hair.
Actually, I didn't do a lot of rigging on this model, 2x4 on the main mast and 4 from the mast to the castle.

This is the latest picture, you can whitness the launch of a visiting F14 (according to my information, CV70 doesn't have Tomcats on board ?), your oppinion on this little experiment is more than welcome.
You can also see some of the rust forming under the anchor, I guess I'll have to put the crew on the job there.

You might want to think twice about using human hair to rig your models in the future. Years ago I rigged the Testors/Italeri 1/720 scale Hood with hair and found that it is very sensitive to temperature and humidity. Some days the rigging would look just fine but at other times it would look very loose and sag and other days it would be too tight. Invisible thread seems to work much better and keeps its shape.

Looking good, Dan, and you did me one better by rigging your first tiny-scale ship. The best I could do with my first 1/700 Victory ship was add a flag to the aft kingpost, and I used a scrap piece of photoetch for the line (stretched sprue still scares me).

as far as your kid (and his video games)

tell him you need his help for a min have him hold two pcs of a model together while you glue it and then have him find part xxx for you

keep him there for a bit the interest may begin to reappear

or it may not but you got nothing to lose and everything to gain

Here are the first pictures from my first 1/720 carrier.
The kit is Revell's Carl Vinson that I picked up a couple of years ago for my son, but since he seems to have lost interest in modeling (darned computergames Angry [:(!]

) I decided to have a go at it.
It's not finished yet and think I need a couple of more evenings with it.
All with all, despite some stressing moments when wiring the masts with some hairs from my wife, I really enjoyed building this little ship.
