I just put an MPC 57 vette back in its box.  I took a break from my WWII waterline ships for a while.  Built a Tamiya german half-track as well.  I am back to the Dragon waterline Bismarck I started last summer.  Wheh, thats all I can say.  Kits have come so incredibly far.  The molding on the MPC vette was thick, indiscernable where the part left off and the sprue should be.  Warped parts, lousey thick plastic.  Directions, Oh my goodness what a disaster.  How in the world is a kid supposed to build those things, never mind someone with over 50 under his belt now,  I just did not enjoy the nonsense with that kit.  Now the Dragon kit, great directions, informative, history lesson.  Sprues are perfect, cut parts off, little need for trim half the time.  Small parts, guns, actually fit in pre-cut holes.  I am telling you, when I build a kit, I want to enjoy it.  I don't want to spend my time wiping blood off my forehead from banging it on the wall.  No more old kits for me, they are a piece of history.  I want new tooled kits that make sense, fit together and look good on my shelf with outstanding detail.  Wheh, I am tired of this nonsense with some of these companies. The biggest thing in my mind is for them to hire an editor or proof reader to go through directions and write them in english.  Make sense, in fact, why don';t theys it down and build the kit from the directions themselves?  I can't believe anyone from MPC ever looked at the darn thing. Final case in point, the vette is a 57 fliptop.  There is not a single panel of directions on how to acheive the fliptop pose or a normal full body.  That is left for your imagination.  In fact, I have 3 posts on the auto side of things and have gotten no help.  Why cause no one else can figure the darn thing out.  No website, no help, waste of hard earned cash!  I know you will say they are old kits, well I respond by they should get them off the market, retool and put something on that is reasonable.  Some of these companies are clearly at fault for putting out lousey product. It's likt the B17, we are stuck with old molds, why doesn't Tamiya or Dragon pick up the ball and give us a 1:48 B17 that has some detail, not something I have to go buy aftermarket parts for. I'm out!
