Hi: What I can judge thus far: you made tremendous good job on your model especially the realistically look of weathering.

I would suggest you to send in the pics to the magazine FineScale Modeler. I think they will be happy to depict it at prime place.

I think much more ships and other sea-vehicles in FineScale Modeler magazine are welcomed at least by me.

I worked on it for 3 months. Almost everyday. At least 4-5hrs a day. I feel I work slowly, but I'm also a perfectionist.

Use a piece of foil from a hershey's kisses or dove chocolate... use something small and round to flatten the foil out. Cut it to shape of the flag, but a little smaller. Dampen your kit's flag and put the foil in the middle. Fold the flag over and lay it under something heavy and flat. After it dries you can mold it to almost any shape. A round toothpick is good to help create waves in the flag.

I painted the lower hull in vertical strokes with a regular brush. I painted the first few layers with the base color. My final layer or two, I tinted it with MM's Neutral Grey and painted some of it, mainly the pressure hull. I made it brushy to give it a streaky look.

The flag is from modelflags.com. They have many flags in many different sizes. I found it difficult, though to simulate a flying flag. It's actually one thin piece of cotton, so you can't use a piece of foil like you can with the kit's flag.

Wow great job. I actually made you website a favorites for ideas, you do an awesome job.  I have a few questions for you.  How did you do the paint job on the lower part of the hull is that with airbrush or with a regular brush.  Also where did you get that flag.

Excellent!!  The U-96 is my favorite submersible. I had the Time/Life book "The Battle of the Atlantic" as a kid, where the U-96 had a prominent feature. I always thought that the laughing sawfish emblem would make a great tattoo!
