If your doing the modern LHA Uss Nassau  the Flight Deck is a color the US Navy calls "Flight Deck Gray"  I personally get my Ship colors from White Ensign Models ( www.whiteensignmodels.com ).  They have excellent, fast international service and their paints use just like Model Master enamils.

Also the proper Hull/ Superstrutor color would be "Haze Gray".

Hi mfsob,

Many thanks for the tips. Yes, a patchwork one would be nice and more "real". Plan also to make it look dirty, since the photos I have show that flight deck gets a lot of abuse from landing and moving choppers, aircrafts and vehicles.

Best regards,

And as has been pointed out before, almost any shade of dark gray can be considered "correct," since it is rare that the entire flight deck would be painted at the same time, so a patchwork effect could be considered "normal," depending on how you want the finished model to look. If you're going for showroom new, I'd go with one shade for the entire thing.

The actual color can be Blue Gray FS 16099 or Flat Dark Gray FS 36076.  Testors Model Master line has Engine Gray FS 36076 in a bottle and Panzer Gray FS 36076 in a spray can.  Model Master Gunship Gray FS 36118 can be used.

LHA NAssau - Flight deck color.

Hi,

I am building the Dragon 1/700 scale kit of USN Nassau and could not find the correct color for the flight deck. This information is missing in the kit instructions and the photos I found after a web search did not help - they showed me several colors, from dark gray to light brown, probably due to different light conditions. Will appreciate if someone could help in claryfing this subject.

Best regards,

Paulo Roberto
