Hi, all!
In the Anatomy of Nelson's ships book, by C.Nepean Longridge, there is a set of plans.
Among them, an "outboard profile" plan. There is an old style scale, but I measured it, and the scale of the plan must be 1/171,23....
The plans being told to be accurate, I wanted to compare them with my HMS Victory models. First one : the 1/180 scale Airfix model. And, surprise : the half hull of this model almost matches the plan exactly. There is no more than 1 mm difference between the plan and the model.
So, the scale of the Airfix model is 1/171, and the base for this model were, undoubtely, the plans by G.F.Campbell. They did not even change the size. Not bad for a 1965-1966 model.
On the picture below, the hull may have moved by 1 mm.
