Hi Mick,

I found a bottle that sort of looked like Elmers white glue. I will have to look at the bottle when I get out to my shop tomorrow, but I picked it up in the area with the railroad diorama stuff. It looked pretty good when it dried. Sounds like you will be chaffing at the bit for the Revell Gato. Mike

Hi Mick and welcome aboard.  I look forward to seeing some of your work.  As far as simulating water, well, I'm a newby to all the techniques that I have learned from being on this site and the other ship modeling sites.  Some modelers use acrylic gel, which is a great medium, some use celluclay or plaster to build up the base and acrylic gel to accent the shape of the water, and some use clear sillicone sealant for large projects.  Jeff Hearn and Rusty White have some nice articles about these techniques.

There is also the old clear resin appoach, where the model is partly or fully submerged in resin to look like it is under water.

Please search around here at FSM, and also at Model Warships and Steel Navy, where there are a lot of fine examples of these techniques.

On behalf of the staff at FSM, welcome to the forums!

Now Scott, who's this Jeff Hearn guy??? Isn't he related to the famous boxer ? Black Eye [B)]

Shamelessly lifted directly from Matt Swan's (aka Swanny) website:

Future Floor polish, in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, is known as “Klear”, “Krystal Klear” or "Johnson's One and All".

It's available at Sainsbury’s, Safeway, Tesco’s, etc.

Here's the direct link to Matt's article, it'll answer any questions you might have.

http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html

Swanny is also a regular on the aircraft forum, so if you have any specific questions, you can hop over there and contact him.

I use Future for just about everything (ironically, long before Matt ever did the story, but I never told anyone!). It's great stuff.

To post photos...you need to have a host first, like myspace.com or photobucket.com. Once you've uploaded them to the server, you link the image here in your text.

The easiest way is to simply add the following to the beginning and end of the image URL:

[_img] http:www.myimages.org/myimage.jpg[_/img]

Now...when you do this...remove the underscores from within the brackets. I had to insert them to prevent the server thinking it's an actual code and not just a simple demonstration.

There's a testing forum here too, so you can experiement and hack away until you get it right.

Good luck!

Looks nice Mick!

In the future, don't drop and drag the images from one window to another, as it causes an invalid argument between the two sites.

Instead, as Ed mentioned, simply cut and paste the image tag from photobucket.

When in doubt, edit the post to see what changes I made, that should explain it.

Best,

Jeff

By the way, what Browser are you using? I use Firefox exclusively for the forums as it's easier  to post pics & I can use the "smilies". Just curious.

Nice boat!  The weathering really gives it that 20,000 Leagues provenance and the portals stand out nicely.  Big scale, too ... I love that.  Is it a vacuform kit?

I like that version of the "nautilus", a very interesting looking vessel. Very nicely done!
