Actually , this is a re-release of an old kit by Ideal ( I think ). I`ve have seen this in the local hobby shop but I can`t remember how much it cost. Looks like a nice kit though.

I just read the posting on the Corsair II and by coincidence I bought a copy at my LHS yesterday.  I paid $28 plus WA sales tax.  This about what the "buy it now" e-bay price would be when you add shipping.  If anyone is interested, they have them at Megahobby for $26.95, and also at Naval Base Hobbies aka TotalNavy aka modelshipbuilding.com and listed under "sailing ships" at both sites.

BTW mega has a Revell kit that looks like an old Chris Craft fishing boat/cruiser.  Don't know the scale, but it looks very cool and very retro and they only have one on hand.  (I don't work for them, just thought someone might want to know about this)

The Corsair II is in fact a re-release by Glencoe of a kit originally produced by Ideal on a subject with an interesting history.  The version on the Glencoe box is different than that of the Navy on some key points.  The box shows a photo with it fitted out as a gunboat, calling it the USS Gloucester.  The Navy site says it was commissioned as USS Corsair

I got it mostly because I've never built a model of a yacht and it was my 58th birthday yesterday and I felt like spending a few $$ on myself.  I was just checking it out this morning.  The deck is molded in tan in one piece, about 2 1/8" wide, planking represented as raised continuous lines end to end, and skylights molded in.  The hull halves are black and smooth-sided with some "scroll work" at the bow, and portholes that could easily be completely opened up.  As built, she would be about 20" long.  I like the boat davits.  Not much flash anywhere except around the prop, a pinrail, and a ladder.  Its not a bad little kit for the money.  Just my humble opinions.
