PICS of my 1/350 diorama so far.

NEW Pics so far, new GHQ vehicles. Should be getting two more ships for the front part of the dio. Might buy a little ship with guns to put out there (like a Trumpeter DE if they have one, can't remember if it was on the list). Take a look, comments/suggestions welcome, enjoy!

Looking nice and crowded on that pier! That's the way my Dad remembers things: total chaos, cramming all manner of war materials on board until each hold was full to bursting, then covering the decks until there was no space at all left where you could do more than edge sideways to get by the crates, vehicles, etc. Not that the load masters consciously ignored the weight limits, but in wartime the rule of thumb was, Get it over there, Get it there fast, and DON'T bother us with any questions.

Hi, I was looking with interest at your pixs.  I have been looking for an example of the use of  GHQ vehicles with 1/350 ships.  I live in Mesa so there maybe an opportunity for me to take a closer look at your work.  Let me know if that is possible.

  Thanks,

Johno60

John, welcome to the forums. It's a five year old post though, so I hope you get an answer but it may not be.

I think the scale difference is too noticable to ignore.

There are lots of WW2 aircraft available. A good source of ship model stuff is White Ensign Models, and there are many others. You could put up a nice deck load of aircraft destined for overseas pretty quickly.

Also, take a look at the Liberty Ship and Maritime Commission sites, many. Lots of the vehicle stuff went in boxes.

I look forward to your progress.

Agree with Bondoman.   The scale difference is just too visually jarring.   The 1:285 scale items from GHQ are about 20% too big for 1:350 scale.

Iron Shipwright offers 1:350 scale Shermans,  Priests,  DUCKW, Duece and a Half,  plus railroad rolling stock

Thanks Bondoman.  I needed some first hand advice on how the scale matches up.  I am building a couple of 'Mike Boats' (LCMs) and wanted a couple of jeeps to load on them.  If the scale difference is noticeable it will really show up in the small boats.

Thanks EdGrune, as my post above explains I'm building too small a craft for a noticeable scale difference.  I have taken your advice and looked at Iron Shipwright and they have some great choices and they look like excellent quality.
