I just began working on the Glencoe Corsair II and was wondering about what kind of materials were used in its construction. Being built in 1890, for J.P. Morgan (money was no object), I believe the deck would probably be planked with teak rather than a more common hardwood. I'm assuming the hull was iron. In all the photos I've seen it appears to be black but could be a dark gray. Since it was custom designed and built as a yacht I suppose some speculation is involved here but I thought maybe there were some common practices in the late 19th century.
Any information, tips, or even theories would be appreciated.
