Thanks Michael and Ed.

Michael, unfortunately I understand that Tamiya discontinued this kit.  I have had it for a number of years and just had not got around to building it.  If you do come across one though it is really nice to build.  No significant problems.  The biggest one was massaging the deck to fit onto the hull and that only took a little sanding here and there.  I did not get too adventurous on this one as other than a few additions to deal with casting marks and seams, it is basically an out of the box build.  The kit still gives a nice result

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the fleet!

Things are done except for the aerial rigging.  That leads to the age old question...... thread.... wire.... or sprue.  I will have to tackle that issue some other day and then take the final pics.  Here are how things stand now though.

Just an update.  The painting is done for the most part except for the transom.  All the parts seem to fit together though they aren't glued down yet.  There is still some hand painting to do but lots of time til October.

The latest is....... have the hull and deck primed and ready to paint and some of the hard to get at areas painted and ready to be masked for the bigger paint jobs.  Some of the smaller pieces are also painted.  Lots still to do though.  As soon as I get some real progress made, I will post some more pics.

I have to say, it was just luck and the fact that I have had this kit for years that I chose to build it.  Never even thought how much time I was going to save with side launchers so no need to rejig torpedo tubes as well as deplank a deck.  Sometimes luck trumps skill!

LoL Bruce! I'm still working on my deckAshamed [*^_^*] & of course fouled the torp tubes as well...Sign - Oops [#oops]

Michel,

Still lots to do.  My scheduling problem is that I have to get geared up for the Sultana GB that starts on June 10th.  I think that is going to take quite a bit of time so I can't get too far behind on this one.  Means not as much time as I might otherwise take to savor every delightful minute of the build.  Of course I didn't have to scrape the planking off the deck either so I had a big advantage from that perspective.

Bruce

Yup, you can say you had the advantage on us since ya didn't have to sand the deck. So, what's the latest on this build?

The sub assemblies are coming together and it looks like there is a place for all of them.  Not long before some can go off to the paint shop.
