WWII Naval Measure camouflage questions

I am returning to ship model building and am doing a WWII Missouri 1943-44 period. In my research I have found that during this period it was painted in measure 32 / 22 d. I need clarification on this designation. Does this mean that all vertical surfaces follow the measure 32 scheme and then just the main deck follows the measure 22 scheme? Also does any one know how wide spread was the painting of false wakes on the bow of major combatant ships for the USN?
