1/350th Perry Class Frigate

As far as I am aware, there is only one 1/350 scale Perry Class available, the Reuben James by Yankee Modelworks (ex Bluewater Navy) in resin.

The only other "large scale" Perry kits available in styrene are the 1/300 (Chinese in origin) kits by CC Lee (said to be motorised and contains no markings) and one by Modelcraft, (also motorised) boxed as Gallery but containing enough generic markings and numbers to build any ship of the same configuration. Review of the Modelcraft kit here

Thank you very much, the Gallery looks like a nice kit, unfortunately it the the long hull version, not the type that i served on.  I hate to be a bother, but do you have any info on a smaller scale (1/700)?

Dragon makes a very nice one in 1/700, but I believe this is a long hull version as well.

Except, that is for the 1:350 scale Perry by Iron Shipwright, sold as the USS Clifton Sprague.

ISW's Sprague is a short-hulled Perry, and includes hull numbers and names for the Perry, Wadsworth, Duncan, Clark, Philip, Morison, Sides, Estocin, Sprague, Moore, Flatley, Fahiron, Puller, Williams, Copeland, Gallery, Tisdale, Reid, Stark, and Fitch.

The YMW kit is a long-hulled Perry.   I'm not sure if the YMW is a one or two-piece hull.    The ISW kit is a one-piece whole hull and is some of ISW's better castings.   It has an open hangar bay and comes with a Seasprite.

It would be nice if one of the mainstream manufacturers came to the party and offered a "proper" 1/350 scale Perry wouldn't it?

I believe the Dragon 1/700 kit is a reboxing of the Skywave one - with the addition of parts to build the underwater hull.  I've got the Skywave version.  I'd have to dig it out of the attic to be sure, but I believe it contains parts to build both long- and short-hull versions.  (The difference, as I recall, is only a few feet, all of it at the extreme stern.) 

It's a beautiful kit, let down only by the inevitable limitations of injection-molding in such areas as the masts and radar screens.  With the addition of an aftermarket detail set (of which several excellent ones are available), it could be turned into a real masterpiece.
