About all I can suggest is David Lyon's The Sailing Navy List, and the supplemental volume (the title of which escapes me at the moment) by Mr. Lyon and Rif Winfield.  One of those books should include a brief summary of the ship's career and a notation of any plans in the National Maritime Museum collection.

You probably already knew that.  Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

HMS Beacon Question
Posted by jwintjes on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 5:10 AM
This is probably a long shot, but perhaps someone might nevertheless help me out here.

In 1841 the RN survey ship HMS Beacon was used for an expedition to Lycia (southern Anatolia) headed by Charles Fellows; the expedition brought back such treasures as the famous Nereid monument which still is one of the maior attractions of the British Museum.

Now, could anyone point me to source for reference material on the Beacon?
