need a recommendation for submarine model

Looking to build a WWII German Sub between 1/200 to 1/400 scale. Any recommendations on good kits for this type 'o' project?

Hi
Dragon, 1/350, Type XXI - nice, but, I am afraid, very rare. AFV just launched kit, which looks similar.
Series of Mirage Hobby 1/400: Type II, VII, IX, PE also available, but sometimes additional putty recomended.Smile [:)]
Best wishes

Since you intend to build only one sub I'm assuming it's not for wargame purposes so I wouldn't go any smaller than 1/400 scale. Mirage Hobby's series of u-boats is a good place to start - their Type II is just over 4 1/4 inches in length while the Type lX is under 8 inches. Details on hull are good, but some of the smaller parts are a bit chunky but this can be corrected by a photo-etched set from the same company. The Revell of Germany 1/144 Type XXI is a nice kit, although out of your scale range, it's still close.

I would also recommend the Nichimo 1/200 Uboats, they do several versions of the Type VII and IX. They can still be found on Ebay rather inexpensively.
