                        Fellow Modellers,

                        I am about to embark on a Tamiyo 1/350 Musashi (1941) with Gold Medal/Lion Roar P/E and turned primary and secondary ordinance barrels.

                        Would also like to re-plank the deck with wooden planking.

                        Where in the U.K. can you source such planking?

                        Am I looking at 3/32" or smaller?

                        Any particular type of wood/stain caught anyone's fancy.

                        Thanks in advance for all advice given.

                        Hi Boathouse,

                        I too am thinking about planking a plastic ship's deck on a future project. I was inspired by Ed Keegan's beautiful Bismarck model. http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/bb/dkm/bismarck-350-ek/ek-index.html.

                        Ed told me he got his deck lumber from a company called Kappler Mill & Lumber Co. http://www.kapplerusa.com/y2k/p-ho-24b.htm

                        He also said he used the 1x3 size, .012" x .035" x 24" for 1/350 ship decks. I have since bought some and although I haven't planked a deck yet, I've tested it out by "planking" the radio and navigation tables in my 1/48 Tamiya Betty just to see how they work. They came out looking real nice ! I can't wait to actually plank a deck with them.
