My eyes once turned towards the Heller Hood kit (Which has recently been reboxed by Airfix, like the Heller Bismarck/ Tirpitz, KGV, & Scharnhorst/ Gneisenau kits, which will hopefully result in them remaining available for a bit longer)
The trouble with the Heller Hood is that it isn't very accurate in places. See the SMML post from November 2002. Here is a link to it in their archive: http://www.smmlonline.com/archives/VOL2037.txt The link to the HMS Hood site review referred to is: http://www.hmshood.com/models/heller/Heller.html
The Heller kit is cheap, but I thought that it had too much wrong with it & decided at the time to wait for the ICM 1/350 release, which eventually never happened. I'm mighty grateful for Trumpeter comming to the rescue. I haven't got around to starting mine yet & have only inspected the box contents, but am very impressed with it. I would say that it is one worth saving a bit longer for.
