Hasegawa MIKASA.(special edition)
Posted by lolok on Saturday, August 12, 2006 4:57 AM

While buying the Revell 50th B/day kits I noticed that the shop also had one kit of the special edition Mikasa with Medal and figure. He is asking 260 Zloty or about $85. Good price or not????

Anyone seen them on Evil.bay. I know they were only issued for a short time so maybe I should snag it while I can.Though WW1 is not really my area I took a look at the GMM set for it and it really comes up well after the GMM additions...

  Oh decisions,decisions.....Smile [:)]

Have seen them on ebay only a couple of times, once from a seller in Japan & another in the UK. Don't remember either indicating whether they were the special edition, or the more regular release.

Have only ever seen it once in a model shop, last month & had to have it. Same edition that you are referring to with the figure & the medal priced at £49.99. The shop only had a single special edition, but had two of the regular issue.

The box states that there is a 3rd gift, that is available only in Japan, but leaves what it is a mystery. Out of curiosity, anyone know what it is?

Have to officially wait for Santa to bring it to me though, as my Mum, who I was out with at the time got it for me as a Christmas present :)

I think the 3rd gift is in the box and is a frameable copy of the box art...

I made a major move today. The LHS I go to had a 25% off sale. I bought a "In First production" Mikasa kit, bundled with a "Mikasa Detail-up Parts Basic"" for about $ 120. I'd been watching her on the shelf for about a year. From top to bottom:

the basic detail-up, which has PE rails, other PE, flags and turned brass barrels.

the kit, which had three bonus features: Togo in 54 mm; a poster of the officers on the bridge; and a coin.

A beautiful slip cover.

I'm a happy man tonight.

I have some nice pics of the real Mikasa right outside the gates at the Navy base in Yokosuka, I can't believe it survived the war unless it was moved there sometime after.

EDIT

Here is a nice site with some history and pics

I'd probably go with a Sasebo gray. It looks like Sasebo may have been Mikasa's homeport between Feb.1904 to Sept. 1905. (From the Battle of the Yellow Sea to the magazine explosion which sank her after her return from the Battle of Tsushima.)

Joy of joys, today I found the Suvorov for $ 25 out the door, the Zvezda model. While it's not nearly as nice a kit, it looks decent and I can afford the PE to swell her up.
