I agree that it would be very usefull.  I suggest having a sticky FAQ post in every subjects: Aircraft, armor, ships, etc...  That would avoid the eternal coming back questions like what is FUTURE, what is the best airbrush, etc...  I know each and every modeler will need that information at some point and it would be great to have the information available quickly for newbies.

Excellent suggestion.

No matter where you go ....... there you are.

Sounds like a great idea.

Though I am not a model ship expert by any streatch of the imagination, I'd be happy to share what little knowledge I do have.

Count me in!

I think that a couple of FAQs for questions that reappear in this forum regularly would be great help to beginners and old timers alike. There is a huge amount of knowledge available on this forum thanks to several "experten" but you have to dig for it at the moment. Being a newbie here (yep, I confess, I have been lurking and have only recently started posting) I don't want to step on any toes or upset the local hierarchy, but if asked I would be willing to help out with setting up these FAQs as a member of a group project. I would also like to hear what the procedures are for posting a FAQ.

regards,

Julian

Developing FAQs for the Forum
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, August 21, 2006 12:23 PM

As a new member to the Forum I've skimmed through all posts in the forum and have seen a large number of topics that I think would make excellent FAQs for shipmodeling.  As  I read through different posts I saw the same material posted again and again as modeler's asked similar questions.  Some of the major areas that there are hundreds of posts on include:

PT Boats/MTBs

The Revell PT-109/PT-117 Kit

Accurate colors/camouflage schemes for warships

Rigging techniques

and many, many more.

I also see that there is a section at the top of the first page of the forum for Announcements and FAQs, but I have not seen any procedures for creating and posting FAQs.

I guess my questions to the forum are:

1.  Do you think that specific topic FAQs would be helpful?

2.  Would you be willing to spend some time in group projects to help deveelop a FAQ?

3.  Is there a foum procedure for posting a FAQ?

Matt
