WEM's M4 37mm gun
Posted by PTConsultingNHR on Saturday, September 2, 2006 1:59 PM
All,

I have the new WEM M4 Oldsmobile automatic 37mm gun. I'm no modeler but, what I see in the bag, it is just absolutely great ... I will send it to Alex Johnson - who built my PT-171 - for a modeler's review. After that, it will replace the plastic 37mm on the model of the 171.

I really do feel that all of you will be impressed with the piece. Mad Pete has done it again ...

Cheers,

Garth

I second the uniform high quality of all the WEM "little bits" I have bought to date, primarily to dress up my 1/700 ships. Doing a side-by-side comparison of their 1/700 CIWS with the plastic ones that came with the kit, for example, well ... there is no comparison! Some of these ship fittings are almost little models in and of themselves, and their 1/700 airplanes are also uniformly exquisite.

My only concern is that there isn't enough of a demand for some of the smaller items, especially airplanes, and they are discontinuing some product lines. I'd advise you to take a look at their website or, if concerned about a specific item, ask if they intend to keep it in stock - I know we ALL are excellent at planning ahead and anticipating every possible need we will have for pending builds. Big Smile [:D]

That's sound advice for the newbies & those who've only just made a return to the hobby. WEM has great Customer Service tooThumbs Up [tup]

Garth, is that 37mm the type used in the P-39 as opposed to the 37mm U.S. Anti-tank gun?

Hippy,

Yes, it is the 37 from the P-39, otherwise known as (as the bag from WEM says) the Oldsmobile M4 37mm ....................

PTs also carried the M9 as well, later on.

A friend of mine will build it and review it for my own site.  Stay tuned.
