Here's a tale of two Cutty's.
Inspired by builds on this forum and Mr Tilley's excellent comments I was moved to purchase on eBay a Cutty Sark from the USA. of 1969 vintage. The seller had a 100% record, and described the kit as 'New' Old Stock.
I found the kit had been started in a small way (not indicated) but there was a huge hole in the hull where the plastic had been broken away, obviously not in transit as some of the bits were in a plastic bag, I eventually got my money back via the dispute procedure.
Not to be defeated I bought another one on eBay from the USA. This time there was an ugly scar on the hull where apparently the tube of glue had split and melted thro' the plastic. (unfortunately it was the same hull half as the previous purchase).
The seller was however very good and sent me two hull halves as replacements albeit un-coppered hull editions.
I now have (6) hull halves and two kits, more than enough to hopefully make a decent job of the model, which I intend to start when my current build is completed.
I suppose the moral of this story is to ask pertinent questions of the seller, but in my case it all worked out ok in the end.
