French Ministry of Defense archives

The History section of the French Ministry of Defense has just opened their online archives.   They have put thousands of plans and photographs online.

See their site at: http://www.servicehistorique.sga.defense.gouv.fr/02fonds-collections/banquedocuments/planbato/planbato/central.htm

You may want to run the website through a translator such as Babelfish or Prompt.

The quality of the scans range from very good to barely useable.  This is one of an American schooner which I have resized and converted from TIFF to JPG format

Some of the stuff reminds me of my trips to the US Archives in College Park, MD.  Very interesting, but not always usable for modeling.

There are plans for ports,  plans for removing and transporting the Grand Obelisk at Luxor,  all sorts of stuff.   How'bout armored LCVPs for use in Vietnam before DienBienPhu

You need to go take a look and see if there is anything which strikes your fancy
