DISASTER..PLEASE HELP/ADVISE
Posted by Andrew Sergi on Saturday, October 21, 2006 1:39 PM
I'll put it plane and simple...Went away to college, work on my model every few weekends I come home.  Finish the entire hull of the Constitution, come back next week...MASTS ARE GONE...as in accidentally thrown out by my sister.  HELP!  I know the 1/96 Revell is one of the most popular kits..Should I call Revell?  Inquire about getting pieces from spare models online? This is the first tall ship I have ever started working on you can see pics of her if you search for posts made under my name.  This surely must have happened to some of you I would REALLY appreciate tips on how to go about this.

Andrew,

Revell replaces parts (in limited quantity, I think 10 is the max) for free. You can order from their web site.

Hi Andrew,

The morel to this story is keep your sister out of your room and don’t let her anywhere near your models.

Revell models are pretty good at replacing spare parts.

The best way to communicate with Revell is write to them and include a photocopy of the relevant section of the instructions and give the kit reference number which is on the end of the box.

You should have the replacement parts in about three weeks.

Beau.

Andrew:

WOW that brings back some memories. I was working on the 1/96 Cutty Shark, when I went away to college back in 1970. My mother "cleaned" my room for me, so I could have a nice place to stay when I cam back home from college during the Christmas vacation. I lived on Long Island, but went to College in Texas, so I was not able to come home on weekends. When I came home my model was thrown-out because she thought I did not want it any more, because I did not finish it!!! UGHHH

A friend of mine had much the same problem, except in his Constitution box, the masts were mis-molds, being mangled messes that in no way resembled masts.

Not only did they go ahead and send him the entire sprues that included the messed-up parts, but also a letter of apology and not one, but two other models (not sure which ones)...

That is what I call customer service.

As for your sister....does she have and Ipod?  And if she does, do you know where the "delete" button is?  You know what to do...

I think we need to start checking the CNN headlines for something along the lines of, "Woman found stuffed in oil drum out in the swamps." Dead [xx(]

Nah, reload the 'pod, you can get Slim Whitman cuts all over the place, Montovani, too . . .

I might even could help a person out with some Republican music, too <g> . . . (no, the other kind, the cheery stuff where the Queen takes all y'r stuff, jails y'r family, and y' hafta cancel Christmas an' all . . . )

Reminds me of the time my wife cleaned my workshop. She decided to vacumn the floor and in the process managed to vacumn a part I had dropped, but not yet re-claimed. I found the part in the bag and promtly banned her from cleaning my room. She hasn't touched anything in over six years. Her motto is "your room, your mess, you clean it". This arrangement has worked well for both of us; saves her some work and me some frustration.
