MBT70, have you seen the Eduard instructions/sheets themselves? The reason I ask, is I am wondering if the GMM see was as "complete" as the Eduard set? Also, is it correct that the GMM set, although "Modern" in name, only reflects the New Jersey for the 80's time frame, not as she looked during the Gulf War?

I had never heard that about Lion Roar, that very well could effect my use of their products if it is found they are copying other people's stuff. It is shame if they are, their BB-55 set looked like a "one-stop shop" for me -- anchors, propellers, barrells, anchor chains and photo etch!!

Good point Holliday. Local people are the best bet . They've done all the research etc. and deserve the business. This economic war with China has got to at least slow down somewhere. I used to work in an art gallery in Alaska. One summer some chinese tourists came through taking pictures. Two years later the gallery down the street started selling vary similar copies of our $5000 bronzes for $200-300 in brass. At the time I was making jewelry boxes of exotic wood with inlays of Alaskan birds and animals on the tops.and selling them for around $85. The store down the street brought in Russian boxes which they retailed at $8. How in the heck does that happen?? So anyway support your LHS when you can.SoapBox [soapbox]

I haven't used the others, but I was quite pleased with the Gold Medal Models sets, both for the WW II Missouri and for the Modernized New Jersey.  Money well spent ....

I am also wondering about the Lionroar set for the BB-55. Anyone know if they plan on doing a set for the New Jersey (or other sister ships)??

I have no doubt that LionRoar (or Loin Roar as has been posted on other sites) will be producing a set for the BB-62 sooner or later.  Their products are being examined closely by a couple of the mainstream PE manufacturers.  It appears that the designers at Loin Roar may be copying the work of others, coming to exactly the same geometry and folding sequence for their parts.   Call it piracy, call it copyright infringement, call it free enterprise.   It is an example of how some Chinese firms operate.   Unfortunately there isn't a lot that can be done legally.

If it is a concern to you, vote with your pocketbook and support the mainstream manufacturers (WEM, GMM, Toms, Eduard, Flagship).   If you don't care -- buy whatever is cheapest

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has used the new Eduard set for the New Jersey? I am trying to decide if I should get their set, the GMM set or the set by Tom's Modelwork. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
