HI

YES ! By all means check it out! I had an opportunity to meet one of the "Memphis Belle's" waist gunners a few years ago at an air show at the Du Page Airport{Winchel I believe}. I had just seen the movie "Memphis Belle", and I have a copy of the ORIGINAL 1944 version of the actual news reel of her last mission. I told him I thought of how the Hollywood version STUNK compared to what really happened. He just smiled and shook his head and said, they had to "over act" what really happened. Historically the only thing they got right was they survived the 25th. mission. I thanked him for his service and shook his hand. Later on that day I stood behind the B-17G "Sentimental Journey" as her engines came to life before she taxied and took off. WHAT a RUSH that was!

Steve

P.S. I know that this is in the SHIPS section, but other than Chicago area roller rink Organist Leon Berry{who served in WWII in the Atlantic on a "Buckley" class destroyer escort}have I meet someone who served in the "fighting" war of the Atlantic.
