Just yesterday I was corresponding with a collegue at work about the Yamato class battleships and I came across this link form the PBS Nova site about an episode they did on the Yamato last year. It gives  information about it's design, service and eye witness accounts from survivors of it's final battle. Make sure you check out the interacive features and the links to other sites you could use for reference for your Musashi build.

The only difference between the old version and the new version is the box art and the price.    Our friends in Japan put a new item number on their kits, raised the prices, and hoped no one would notice.

I just received the Tamiya 1/350 Musashi 2005 version for free.   Anyone build this baby before?  What is the kit like to build?  I was shocked to read that it was built along with the Yamato under secrecy and had the biggest guns of any battleship in history!  I love the history behind these ships and it's all new to me as I am new to ship modelling but I am having a blast.

Is there any difference in the Tamiya 2005 re-releases of the original battleships released from 1979 - 1990?  Why did Tamiya re-box and re-release?
