The new old Hawk company

edit & bump back to the top of the page

I just picked up one of the old Hawk Weird-oh kits for the club's Christmas gag gift exchange.   The box has the old Hawk diamond logo but the end says,

Manufactured by The Hawk Model Co.

a wholly-owned subsidiary of J. Lloyd International, Inc.

Cedar Rapids, IA 52408

Made and printed in China.

So, Mr Lloyd has probably purchased the old Lindberg molds from Crafthouse and has shipped them to China for production

At the recent e-Hobby Expo (formerly known as RHCTA trade show), it was announced that Hawk had obtained the old Lindberg molds and was planning on re-releasing many of them, including many of the long OOP and sought after kits.  The minesweeper was specifically mentioned.

Hawk is not directly the old injected plastic company, rather a re-born company recapturing the old trade name.

White Ensign has announced that they will be releasing a 1:700 scale Iron Duke in WWI fit
