Reboxed Kits
Posted by Duke Maddog on Saturday, September 6, 2003 11:06 AM
Hey everyone!

I have been coming to and posting in these Forums for a few months now. I mostly visit the Armor Forum, alhough I do build ships as well, mostly in 1/500 to 1/700 scale. Some of my work can be seen here:

I'm finishing the air wing of my U.S.S. Wasp now, and I should be done in a few days.

Anyway, I need help from some of the great people who post here. My club is trying to add a page to their website that lists any kits that have been re-boxed by other companies and re-sold. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was looking thru your ships and I noticed your USS Merrill. She is a Spruance class destroyer. You show her as having a "Hurricane" bow. Of the 3 ship classes that used that hull only the Ticonderoga class cruisers had that bow. The others just used a regular bow with standard railing.

As for your question. Everything by MiniHobbies Models is a rebox. Most from Trumpter. Some from DML/Dragon, and some from Tamiya (I've heard).

Sorry this took so long to respond, I'd lost this thread and didn't go back far enough!

Thanks Therriman! I didn't know that about the hurricane bow. I had built that kit long before the Internet, and my access to Naval sources was extremely limited. So, I'd put the HB on because I thought it looked cooler. That was about 15-20 years ago too. Since then, I've been more careful.

Thanks again for the re-boxed info. I'll pass that along.
