need help: 1/600 style!
Posted by Jeffrey on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 4:02 PM
i'm currently researching for close ups of the uss forrestal. i recently bought the 1/600 airfix kit. i thought it might be a cool project. this is my first ship build. i want to a good job at it and would like to know where i might find metal photo-etched parts to bring out a look of realism and any photos of the ship during the vietnam era. i am thinking of setting it in a diorama of the infamous day in '67 when 134 sailors was killed by a missile failure on deck and nearly one future senator john mcain. if anybody can help; perhaps, a veteran from the FID; i would truly be honored. Will send photos by this site as construction goes underway.

You will not find a dedicated set in 1:600 to detail a Forrestal. You will need to cobble together sets to acheive your goal.

Here is White Ensign's 1:600 scale page http://www.whiteensignmodels.com/brochure/1_600_photo-etch1.htm

and here is the Tom's Modelworks page

and here is the Gold Medal Models page

Thanx a mil, EdGrune! Just checked out all three sites. Found a lot of generic parts, but, that's what stepping up to the next level is all about. you've fueled my inner demons that much more!

Building for love, cuz I love to build!
