Acrylic display case for 1/72 Revell U-Boat?

I've built a few acrylic cases - the largest was for my 1/200 scale Yamato at about 55 inches long.  I purchased 1/4 inch thick acrylic pieces cut to size at a place called Tap Plastics.  They also smoothed all the cut edges.  I used a very viscus adheasive that they sell for acrylics - it's called IPS Weldon 3. It's thin like water so it will flow along the edges.  I just taped the edges together - working with two sides at a time.  I taped the pieces together with masking tape and just spot glued them together - you don't want to glue near the tape as the glue will flow under the tape.  Then I took the tape off and completly glued the joint.  All of my cases have come out pretty good - I have been very pleased with them.  The only problem with the large one for the Yamato is that it's pretty heavy .

  I've built large acrylic cases before, but if you haven't, it would be in your best interests to go to a glass company and see how much they would charge...acrylic is finicky to work with, and expensive, so you would want to have someone build it with a fair amount of experience.

  Check out some articles online about building tanks using acrylic, if you decide to make it yourself, they can provide you with some good tips.  I would recommend building a couple of smaller cases out of Lucite or Plexiglass, both of which are available at your local home supply store (Lowes, Home Despot,etc) to get your "feet wet". You can use a variety of clear glues, AC works well, but watch the runs!
