yes I have both books & I have read & used them as a ref If I am correct one of them is already out of print. I would just like to expand on some of what he does in these books esp some of his techniques but I agree with you the poor guy wouldn'i have time to do his own ship modeling. maybe we can talk him into doing a 3rd or advanced book expanding on such items as photoetch ,resin & the like

I agree with all you guys, but let's face it - if there were a chat room where we could talk directly to Mike, the poor guy would have no time to do what he does best!

Have you tried his 2 books "Basics of Ship Modeling" and "Building & Detailing Scale Model Ships". Both by Kalmbach Books. I have the first and skimmed thru the other (I will buy very shortly). Good Stuff. You just might get your answer. In fact I'm beginning to think I might be able to scratchbuild my own ship. Then again everything looks easy when your reading it in a book.

I read your article in FSM on "Arizona , but I would like to know
what thin tape you use for your deck masking? & also how you trim it without affecting the part itself? esp where you want to
separate the steel from the wood deck. THANKS
