Sovremenny Class deck color
Posted by rsog2000 on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 12:15 AM
Hello, I was wondering about the colors for painting the deck of the Sovremenny class destroyer Nastoychivyy from the Russian Baltic fleet. I assume the sides of the ship are to be painted in Baltic Fleet Grey. There are two colors for the deck however. One is russian deck red...the other is listed as "Dark Gray (2)". Any idea what shade of grey this is? Is there a US or Royal Navy color that is very close to this? I've looked at some pictures online and I can't tell what grey this is closest too. (I'm building the 1/700 Dragon kit, by the way)

Not sure where I remeber this from but I'm farly sure that someone (perhaps John at WEM) replied to one of my post on a similar thread. It was stated that the modern US deck grey was the same shade as the Russian colour.

You could try this question at either Steelnavy or Modelwarhips

Thanks! I've decided to go ahead and use US navy deck grey.
