HMS Victory Bowsprit Spar
Posted by Glamdring on Saturday, January 13, 2007 10:54 AM
I've encountered yet another setback in building my Revell of Germany 1/146 Victory. The styrene is extremely poor quality and quite brittle. I think I had 8 pieces broken before the box was opened, but they were able to be salvaged to some extent. Don't even ask how many had been dislodged from the trees. But I digress, I'll post on that when I have pictures of the finished product.

Anyways, I've been treating this thing with the utmost care as I've been building it to avoid further breakage. As usual, I had a momentary lapse in judgement and applied too much pressure while inserting the larger bowsprit spar into it's loop, and 1/4 of the piece went flying into space to be lost forever. I'm beginning to think some higher power doesn't want me to finish this kit, ever.

I placed an order through Revell's site for a replacement, since I don't have a sales receipt from the purchase, but I'm not sure if they're going to send the part. Is there anywhere else I can get a proper substitute?
