Started sub .As a Plank-on-Frame model builder I do get involved in building plastic models. In referencing a book from The Floating Drydock the USS Cod I discovered some major problems on the hull.
Before starting the Cod's # is 224. What is missing and has to be cut into the hull are: engine exhausts, holes in the rear, hatch on the fan tail, holes on the sides above the preasure hull, access hatches on the sides, access doors on the hull just passed the torpedo tubes both sides. We must remember that these where mass produced so the hulls especially the holes are the same.
Other than that this its a beautiful model, so far the parts go well togther with little or no space. The spaces of course will be taken care of in the finishing. I like large. I build most of my scratch models to 1/4"=1"-0"
